As a member of the armed services, the North Carolina National Guard or a military dependent, if you do not qualify as a North Carolina resident-for-tuition-purposes, you may still be eligible to pay a reduced tuition rate if you meet the eligibility requirements for the Military Tuition Benefit.
Note: The Benefit only determines the amount of tuition you pay. You must still qualify academically for admission.

(a) Definitions
The following definitions apply in this section:
(b) Any active duty member of the armed services qualifying for admission to an institution of higher education as defined in G.S. 116-143.1(a)(3) but not qualifying as a resident for tuition purposes under G.S. 116-143.1 shall be charged the in-State tuition rate and applicable mandatory fees for enrollments while the member of the armed services is abiding in this State incident to active military duty in this State.
